

Governments of Kogi and Ondo States have reiterated commitments to continue synergising and collaborating, especially in the areas of securing their border towns.
They stated this when the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Hon Edward Onoja paid his Ondo State Counterpart, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa a courtesy visit at his office in Akure on Monday.
Onoja, who congratulated his counterpart for the victory of his boss, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN at the Supreme Court, said governments of both states were on top of security issues.
He said, as sister states, there must be synergy to ensure that people went about their normal business and was happy both governors were on top of the situation.
“Firstly, congratulations to the people of Ondo State on behalf of the good people of Kogi State and my principal, His Excellency, Yahaya Bello for the resounding victory at the Supreme Court of the government of his Excellency, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN and his loyal Deputy Governor” .
“As sister states, the synergy will be on security, which is one of the plaguing issues in the country today…. the two governors as chief security officers of both states are on top of their jobs to ensure people and citizens of their states have a secured life” .
“Basically, I can say my boss is ontop of his job in that regard and his His Excellency in Ondo is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that his people are safe and going about their normal business in that area” .
“States can synergise and collaborate to ensure States can rid off criminal elements from our society, that is one area I believe it will be good for all of us” , he said.
Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa said apart from both states being in the same political party, said the visit showed that there was cooperation between both states.
Aiyedatiwa said he was happy that the relationship between both governments had been cordial and beneficial to people of both states, especially those in the border towns.
“It is obvious that there is cooperation, apart from the fact that we are memebers of the same political party, APC, and we also share borders together with Kogi State and my boss Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN is a friend to the governor of Kogi State” .
“In terms of governance and political activities, and for the fact that we share borders together, we could collaborate in the area of security…. don’t forget that a lot of our people are farmers, they migrate from Kogi and they are farming in Ondo State” .
“So we have that brotherly relationship and that relationship has been very cordial and beneficial to the people of Ondo State,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa used the occasion to congratulate Dr. Onoja on his 47th birthday which coincided with the visit.
The Secretary to Ondo State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Head of Service, John Adeyemo, Caretaker Chairman of APC in the State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin among others received the guest along with Aiyedatiwa.
